Use this Corrections page to report an error in any PhysicsTool calculator or explanation. Each report is checked against the published source by Manoj Meena, and every confirmed fix is recorded in the log below.
What to Include in a Report
- The name of the calculator or the address of its page.
- Every value you entered, with its unit.
- The result the calculator showed.
- The result you expected, and the textbook or reference it comes from.
Choose “Report a calculator error” in the form so the message is handled before general questions. A report with all four details can usually be checked in a single pass.
What Counts as a Correction
A correction is any change that fixes something a visitor could have relied on. That covers a wrong formula, a wrong or outdated constant, a faulty unit conversion, a mislabeled result and a false statement in an explanation.
Spelling fixes, layout changes and new features are not corrections, so they are not listed in the log. They still change the “last updated” date on the calculator.
How a Report Is Handled
- The reported inputs are entered again to reproduce the result.
- The result is compared with the source named on the calculator and with an independent worked example.
- If the calculator is wrong, the cause is fixed in the code, the explanation or both.
- The full set of test cases for that calculator is run again before the fix goes live.
- The correction is added to the log with its date, and the person who reported it gets a reply.
If the calculator turns out to be right, you still get a reply showing the working and the source. A report that reveals a confusing label or a missing assumption leads to a clearer page even when the number was correct.
